Design brief-map illustrations for book on Phoenician Ship Expedition
Objective – to provide a double page map for a paperback book.
The map will cover the following areas: Europe , the Mediterranean, Africa including western Indian Ocean, South Atlantic, north Atlantic (including part of the eastern coast of north and south America).
Ideally the map needs to be copied electronically from an existing global atlas so that the detail is accurate. It then needs to be converted into the preferred style which is a single line for the coast line with a lighter second line for a depth contour at say 100 meters- see map example.
The political borders of the main countries visited by the expedition should be shown with a fine dotted line. Key countries and oceans will be named in capitals and bold text. Less significant countries and territories will be named in smaller and lower Case text.
The route of the expedition will be shown in a bold dashed line with arrows showing direction of travel with dates at key points of the expedition.
All ports of call will need to be marked on map either directly or indirectly via a numbering system and key.
Major currents will be shown as graduated arrows illustrating their direction, increasing/decreasing /[url removed, login to view] major currents to be included are the Mozambique current, the Agulhas current, the Benguela and the Gulf Stream
The winds to be included with a thin line and arrow head (to be distinct from the currents) are as follows: The North East Monsoon (October to February), the SE trade Winds in both Indian and South Atlantic oceans, the horse latitudes (western Atlantic and north of the equator-30-35 degrees north).
Is the brief clear?
How long would it take to do?
How much would you charge?
