My goal is to set up a basic website "[url removed, login to view]" that I have bought the domain name for. I want suggestions as to where to host this website given the below description that keeps costs low, but is compatible with expansion and monetization. Then, when I have discussed this with the freelancer and set up the hosting site, I would like the freelancer to create the webpage for me.
The website I want created will have a few features that I will describe below and will be aimed at collecting additional information (via surveys) about needs and lifestyle choices from members. I will suggest a general layout, but I would like you to take creative liberties as you see fit.
There could be a Homepage and tabs for "Forums"," Jobs", "Network", and "Resources". This outline is based on an adaptation of the web community [url removed, login to view], so feel free to emulate online communities like this or others.
The front Homepage could have a place to sign in to create an account via email, Facebook, etc. and to connect to social media. There could be slightly different account creation forms for companies and individuals on the site. Additionally there could be a basic search function for the site on this page. Lastly, I would like a keyword alert system set up wherein an individual can receive an email notification whenever a post includes a specific word or set of words with a link to the location of the site where the word is mentioned.
The Forums section will be where these winemakers go for actionable advice while planning their next harvest, and where I can obtain information about what is most important to members. I would like to have a way for members to ask questions and some sort of incentive for other members to write instructional forum posts in response (for example, have the number of posts, the number of responses to posts, and the number of upvotes given by members always shown next to an individual’s profile picture). I want there to be a side bar where the top rated and new forum posts can appear and be regularly updated.
The Jobs tab could have two main parts (a list of all the posted jobs and a map at the top with tags for each job location). The Job tab should be a where companies or individuals representing companies can post job descriptions and where people looking for jobs can go and search for jobs. There needs to be a set of filters for location, time frame, and keyword search options. These tabs on the maps should link to the full job description form that companies will fill out when they want to "post a job"
The Network tab could lead to a page that says "sorry, currently under development and then a pop-up will ask members how they usually network with other wine interns, and if they would rather use a website or an application for networking with interns in their area.
Lastly, the Resources tab could be used for compiling the best member created informational posts and links to outside web sources. However, for the purposes of this initial webpage, there should only be a pop-up survey that asks members what resources they most value or what questions they want answered.
