HTML 5 videos fail to play when using the react-native-webview component on Android, even though they work with the native Android WebView component that is ultimately called by react-native-webview.
I'm not sure if it fails on all devices, but I know for certain it does on Amazon FireTV sticks and in the Android TV emulator.
This is a known bug documented here.

[login to view URL] is a good clean HTML5 demo page that you can use for testing.
It may be broken on all Android devices currently. I've only tested on FireTV and the emulator using Android TV.
Updates to either the react-native-webview library itself, or a sample project that uses it, to will allow HTML5 video to play on AndroidTV devices. Specifically Amazon FireTV.
