Hi, I need a little primer in iphone/ipad dev so I'd like some sample code to help me on my way.
What I want is a very simple application that's rather like a glossary. I'd imagine this is pretty much bread and butter stuff for you guys and similar demos may already exist - but its well beyond me at the mo!
The underlying data would be a simple table consisting the following fields
[title, classification, sub classification; summary; detail description, web URL, user comments]
I would like this in an easily editable format for a dev, suitable for volumes to a few thousand rows of data.
Interface should consist a table view listing the titles.
This should be search-able based on title and summary words (limiting the records shown when used)
The user should be able to optionally view via a classification/sub classification view as well as a flat list of all titles.
When the user selects a title a second view is given to show all the data including the summary, description, url link and an add to favourites button.
A small free text are should be at the bottom where the user can add there own comment (to be stored back in the table or alike) this will be available to view the next time the app is run. The test edit area should have a clear option, which previous comments are deleted once the user confirms.
A special category called Favourites should be at the top of the table view – this will list only the titles that have been added to the users favourites.
To give an idea of sizing i need to support around 2000 entries (split into about 10 classifications, with 10 sub classes in each)
Interface wise... when the app firsts loads i'd like a splash screen (showing a full screen image) to appear for a few seconds then the table view with browse/search ability.
On the iPhone selecting a title will show the detail full screen – on Ipad would be a split view of titles on left and detail on right.
Both iphone and ipad view should fully support device rotation
An about button should raise a pop up again showing the splash screen image with a close button to return to the table/detail view.
This should run on the latest sdk and all prior versions.
So that should about do it for this initial play!
I'll want the source code with some standard commenting that I can then use a basis for developing both my knowledge of how xcode works and a couple of dumb little text heavy apps so I can try cover the cost of the beer tokens provided to you for your services.
