Advice need help to create JAR file and set Classpath

I have not much experience in Java. Need help to create a JAR file and set Class from a github project. I successfully used maven compile to create class files. But do not know how to run the class file because I have no idea how to set the CLASSPATH.

Also, I also need to create a JAR file for easily portability. All I need is your advice. No coding is reqired. But may extend the task to include programming later if you and I are interested.
