I am launching a "stories" podcast, based in the UK. In some episodes I will interview guests. I would like a short, simple contract that my guests can sign to clarify the ownership of the material (i.e. to my business) in perpetuity and any rights they may or may not expect. Obviously I would expect it to also contain any elements that would protect the business that I am not aware of.
I would also like a brief discussion relating to the use of news clips in audio podcasts, particularly relating to "fair use" and material that is beyond a 70 year rule (or similar).
Indemnity insurance would be preferable.
As an example, Neville Chamberlain's war declaration is BBC property but older than 70 years (see [login to view URL]). I would look to use a 14 second clip. Hopefully a discussion around this would set some simple to follow rules for other clips.
