Hello,
I wanted to add a new custom feature on nginx-vod-module but I am not familiar with C.
I plan to use Mapped + Remote.
Here are the features I wanted to be added to the module.
- Add custom header request to the remote:
I want to add a custom header that is being sent to the remote URL. For example, when I provided a mapped JSON, that looks like this:

"header": (header to be sent to the path.),
"path": "/http/[login to view URL]"
- Add a custom range request to the remote. I wanted to add an extra bytes to the provided URL, like this:
"type": "source",
"header": (header to be sent to the path.),
"extraByte": 1024,
"path": "/http/[login to view URL]".
so if nginx-vod-module requested a 0-1024 byte range to the provided remote URL, it will send a 1024-2048 instead. since we added an extra bytes.
- Last thing is add parallel requests to fetch the metadata of the video from the remote URL. The thing is, nginx-vod-module is fetching the remote URL one by one instead of at once to get the metadata of the video. For example, if you have multiple remote URLs, they will fetch it one by one. There's already an open issue on the nginx-vod-module repo and you can read more about it:
