I need to setup an experiment with Linux,VPN and Virtual Machines. I want to see if it’s possible to get a stable internet connection from 2 unreliable 3G dongles. We will use one server in a data center, 2 VPS servers to redirect traffic and at the other end a Laptop.
Data center server: Install and configure Zeroshell ([url removed, login to view]), Silver Peak VX ([url removed, login to view]) wan optimization. I will provide trial license.
2 VPS servers: The only purpose of those 2 servers will be to be able to forward the traffic to the data center server. The reason for this is that the 3g network is sometimes heavily overloaded to some destinations and works perfectly fine to others.
Laptop: Will be fitted with 2 3g modems from 2 different operators. Install and configure Zeroshell and SilverPeak as Virtual machines with Win 7 as host.
VPN connections and SilverPeak tunnels should be established from the laptop to the data center server via the 2 3g modems. A total of 6 tunnels should be established, 2 directly to the datacenter server and 2 VIA each of the redirect servers. The best way should always be chosen based on the tunnel that currently has the lowest packet loss, and latency. I would believe that SilverPeak can handle this, if not it has to be setup in ZeroShell. All traffic from the laptop should be sent via the data center server, I will also need a few ports forwarded from the data center server to the laptop.
This setup is a test setup. If it works as I hope there will be lots of additional work.
