Commercial Market for a Military Aircrew Personnel Lowering Device (PLD)
The PLD is a modular unit that is attached to the aircrew member’s life support equipment, and it allows him/her to safely descend from a tree (or other “perch”) to the ground, following an ejection/bail-out and subsequent parachute fall.
The existing system is outdated, bulky and heavy, and does not allow for a controlled rate of descent if the aircrew member releases tension on the descent line.
