I’m working through a self-directed study on control systems and want structured, hands-on guidance in MATLAB to make the concepts stick. My goal is to move from textbook understanding to practical competence: writing my own scripts, running meaningful simulations, and interpreting the results with confidence. Here’s what will make this engagement a success for me: • Briefly walk me through the relevant theory for each topic we tackle, then pivot straight into MATLAB so I can see how the equations translate into code. • Provide well-commented .m files that run without extra toolboxes beyond standard Control System and Signal Processing packages. • Use clear plotting and annotation so the behavior of each system—step response, frequency response, root locus, etc.—is easy to read and explain. • After every session or module, leave me with short exercises and a model answer so I can test my understanding on my own time. We can start with fundamental single-loop designs and, as I grow comfortable, branch into more advanced material such as state-space or adaptive approaches. I’m flexible on the order; what matters is that by the end I have a small portfolio of working examples and the confidence to adapt them to new problems.
