I need to achieve bidirectional communication between my central MCU (nRF52832) and a peripheral UART device. The central MCU is connected via I2C to a SAMD20 MCU that is connected via UART to the peripheral device. I don't want to directly connect the nRF to the peripheral device via UART.
What I'm looking for is an Atmel Studio Project for SAMD20 that implements a power-optimized I2C-UART interface: data received from the central MCU must be immediately forwarded over UART to the peripheral device, and data received from the peripheral device over UART must be stored in a FIFO buffer that can be read from the central MCU over I2C. The SAMD20 is going to act as an I2C slave with programmable I2C address. The project needs to be power optimized, meaning that I'm expecting around 50 uA consumption on idle. As soon as there's no data transfer going on, the SAMD20 must go back to idle state.
