I run a small engineering company based in the UK.
I need a database (ideally built in MS Access) that allows the following:
1. Storage of documents on one PC. No Network access is required.
2. For each type of document:
a) Material Certificate
b) Plating Certificate
I will need different user definable fields to duplicate data that is already on the document, into the system - this needs to be searchable.
3. For the material certificates, I want the system to 'classify' the material to fit certain parameters. For example material A will meet ISO898-2 Grade 4, BS3692 Grade 1 and SAE J995 Grade 1. Basically 'flags' on each page for a particular material type to say it meets that specification. - Therefore the requirements of those specifications will need to be added - I will need the flexibility of adding more specifications as and when they arise.
4. Drawings may be duplicated between different customers - so I will need a page to show who sent me the drawing and when. I'll enter this information when I am populating the fields relevant to the drawing. Each drawing is different, so i need to have multiple fields that can be populated.
