I am a web developer with an excellent understanding of HTML and CSS.
I am building my first Android app which will be used privately on a Google Nexus 7 tablet. The app will not be uploaded to the Android marketplace and it will not be available for public use. It will only be used privately on the Nexus 7.
To develop the application, I am using HTML5, CSS3 and JQuery Mobile inside of Dreamweaver CS6 and then using the Dreamweaver CS6 PhoneGap Build service to create and download the .apk file to my computer. I am then connecting the computer to the Nexus 7 using a USB cable and installing the app onto the Nexus 7.
Everything so far has worked perfectly in a “proof of concept” exercise.
My next step is to confirm that I can click to watch movies using the app, and this is where I need help. The process is a little technical for me and I do not have the time to research how to do it.
I will be creating lots of small movies. The movies will be rendered in [url removed, login to view] which is .mp4 format. I will use my PC to upload the movies to the Nexus 7 Internal Storage using a USB cable. I have already uploaded the attached .mp4 file to the “Movies” folder on the Nexus 7, and it plays fine.
I plan to then call the movies on different pages from inside the app using buttons or some sort of video player. This will keep the size of the .apk file down.
Please note that embedding the movies using something like “You Tube” is not an option. The movies must be stored on the device for viewing offline, for example on a plane. Also, the Nexus 7 does not have an SD CARD slot, so this is not an option.
I have attached a .zip which contains my proof of concept exercise (all the files and folders) which I need you to modify and send back to me.
1. Look inside the [url removed, login to view] file on line 85. Please create some sort of button or video player so that the app will call and play a movie from the Nexus 7 Internal Storage (preferably the “Movies” folder). You can specify the path to the exact movie from within the button code, for example “nexus/movies/[url removed, login to view]”. I just need to be able to repeat the button on different pages (with different file paths to my different movies) as I build the project.
2. Please modify and add folders / files / scripts / code to get it working. Please test to make sure it works.
3. Please send the project files back to me so that I can also test.
4. Please provide written step by step instructions on what you have done so that I can repeat the process on my other pages as I build the project once our work together is finished.
Remember I will be using the Dreamweaver CS6 PhoneGap Build service to build the .apk file. It must build successfully using this process otherwise it is useless to me.
The “github phonegap plugins” may help you [url removed, login to view] There is a Video Player plugin in here which may help.
Payment will be made through milestone payment but you will only be paid once I have tested this successfully through the Dreamweaver CS6 PhoneGap Build service.
