I'd like to build an app that does voice texting. I'm thinking it will limit messages to 7-10 seconds to leave someone a quick note without having to call and go through the voicemail process. This will be recorded and then immediately sent via text message to any of your contacts, in whatever audio format will be compatible with all cell phone/operating systems.
This would be geared towards teens and young adults who typically skip calls in favor of texting. And replace the poor "voice-to-text" programs that translate what the person said before sending via standard text message. Why wait for the translation when you could just send the audio?
As an addition, Much like emojis are added to text messages, i'd like the ability to also add quick sound effects to the message as well. Think springs bouncing, water splashing, car sounds (Vroom!), a laugh track, animal noises: "oink!" "moo!", etc...
Example of messages that could be sent:
- "Stacy, be there in 5 minutes, leaving now!" *car tires peeling out*
- "Hanging out at the pool today! Get out here!" *splash sound effect*"
- "I totally ate too much today. I feel like a pig" *Oink sound effect*
Ideally, perhaps later down the line, I'd like to be able to potentially post these messages to Facebook or Twitter feeds as well, but that may require server space to be purchased. We could discuss that later.
