I own a Nokia E63 mobile phone(Symbian device). I wish to be able to update my location to my website page using the phones cell info information.. NOTE: I have my own website & server access.
As you coders know a cell phone connects to a cell transceiver nearby and as you drive around it changes from that cell to another one that’s then closer so that you always get a good signal.
Each cell has an Identification name showing usually the suburb your in at the time… ie Red Hill, Ashgrove, Paddington, Airport, etc etc.
If you have the cell info display on then this actually appears on the phone of the screen.
I want an application written for my phone that will get this information and transfer it to my website page. Preferably I would like to be able to enable & disable the updates via the application. The website display page should be minimal and simple as I will be getting more work done to it later. I don’t want any flash to be used on the webpage.. Only html , java, etc.
The website page will look like the following…
// [screen clears] ///
Current location: Ashgrove
// End of screen //
Basically the website end should update whenever the cell phone changes cells whilst the person is visiting the page … ie auto refresh.
As for the phone application, I want it only to send an update if the cell info changes otherwise I’ll end up flattening the battery and using up too much data.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
