I have a Magento store that was built locally using XAMPP that I need to migrate to my shared hosting server. I have been able to get my template installed on the web server installation of Magento, but have not been able to import my local mySQL database successfully to the web store.
I need someone to complete the migration by successfully importing the .sql backup to the installation on my server. There are a couple of issues that have prevented me from doing so. A quick rundown of the issues I have experienced thus far:
I installed Magento locally using the Bitnami quick installer. This created the database, the name of which I could not replicate (bitnami_magento) on the server because databases on my sharing hosting server begin with my shared hosting user name as a prefix. Additionally, I could not replicate the root database admin used locally, and after importing to the web host would get site errors telling me that the users in the database did not have permission to access the database. I assume this is because the locally created and permitted users are stored in the .sql backup, but are not found as being active users with database access in my web hosting control panel.
After realizing this, I attempted to remove all user access on the local database in phpmyadmin then re-export, but also removed the root user, locking me out of access to my database and even the ability to see it as an existing database within phpmyadmin.
This is where my efforts ended, and I have been unable to restore access to the database locally or to import it to the web server without causing errors when trying to access the web installation.
I have the original backup .sql file of my local database.
I am looking for someone who knows mySQL databases, and preferably Magento too, who will be able to complete the migration by importing my database to the web server and getting it connected to the store and working as it was in the local development environment.
My assumption is that this will require editing of the mySQL backup file to change user permissions there, so that only database admins created on the web server and with access to the server database are listed with access in the .sql file.
However, I am not sure of this and will be looking to your expertise to determine how to resolve this problem. I am a front-end developer and am turning to Freelancer because I do not have the mySQL knowledge to do this without making it not worth the personal time investment relative to the other needs of the project.
