We are a small company on a shared hosting account. We have mysql database and someone went in and added a bunch of enteries into the database, it caused the database to use too much CPU on the hostgator shared hosting and the shut down the database. It is not possible to secure your website to extreme level when you are in shared hosting as you can get effected by other websites on the same server .... so I suggest to first move to VPS and then secure it
