1. Choose 2 enterprises (businesses, corporations, companies, institutions) from one or more economic, organizational, institutional or industrial sector of interest to you. See the Appendix for suggestions and examples.
2. Suggestion: Be concrete in your choices, e.g., Wal-Mart, American Express, GE, Toyota, Uncle Ralph’s Deli & Grill, MTA, Amtrak, York College, New York University, NYC Board of Education, CUNY, University of California, American Museum of Natural History, National Gallery of Japan, Omni Airlines, etc.
3. Design an Entity-Relation (ER) model of a database (DB) that will be useful for each of the chosen enterprises.
4. The following aspects are required and should be captured in the project
a. There should be at least 20 - 30 Entities in the ER model for each enterprise dB.
b. There should be at least 20 – 30 (entity-to-entity) Relationships in the ER model, for each enterprise.
c. There should be at least 5 Relationships that have their own attributes
d. Indicate the types of values, and value domains (sets) of entity Attributes
e. Indicate the primary key for each Entity and Relationship
f. Indicate the secondary key(s), if any, for entities and relationships.
g. For each Relationship, indicate the (min, max) multiplicity (adicity), for example, 1-to-1, many-to-1, 1-to-many, many-to-many.
h. In the design report, highlight and discuss any 3-way or N-way (N > 3) Relations that occur in the ER models.
i. The design report should discuss: i) modeling fidelity and faithfulness (realism); ii) avoidance of redundancy; iii) modularity in representation; iv) choosing the right relationships; v) making good choices about what to represent as entities, entity relationships, entity attributes, entity relationship attributes.
5. Document and present your design as a report in the following form:
