RDP Remote App Freezing - Windows XP SP3 (Client – 32 bit) and Windows Server 2008 R2 (Host - 64 bit)
We have an application implemented in VB.NET 2005 Desktop(Windows) Application. Hosted the application on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) computer and enabled RDP Application sharing.
Clients are accessing application concurrently from 6 different computers. While clients are using application, the application hung/freezing randomly for 5 – 10 minutes. Some times it is more than that. It is happening verify frequently (minimum 5 times a day) with random scenarios. Clients are using taskmanager to close the application. They are really annoyed to use the application with freezing problem.
After clients reconnect the RDP Remote App, it is working well with out any problems.
We tried to resolve the problem by following different scenarios, but no luck. The various scenarios we tried are listed below.
1. Turning off the hardware acceleration system wide in Windows XP (client computer) ([url removed, login to view])
2. Set fInheritColorDepth value to 0 in the registry at HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-
Tcp ([url removed, login to view])
3. From local resources tab of RDP window unchecked all Devices and Drives while connecting to server

Does the application has the support for multiple threads to handle the client requests. Try increasing the priority of the process on the server as the highest so that it can be executed
