Datacom Protocol Bug Resolutions

Our production network is hitting several protocol-level snags that I no longer have bandwidth to chase down in-house. The pain points are centred on protocol implementation rather than physical links: MPLS, OSPF, BGP, multicast and some stubborn ACL behaviours are all showing symptoms. MPLS is the worst offender—routing loops creep in, labels aren’t always distributed as expected and QoS marking occasionally vanishes in transit. These issues surface under load and during fail-over tests, so reproducing them reliably is part of the challenge. OSPF neighbours sometimes drop without a clear LSA trigger, BGP flaps more often than SLA allows and multicast streams time out on certain segments even though the IGMP state looks clean. Access lists may also be masking root causes, so a fresh set of eyes on rule order and shadow hits will help. To move this forward I need: • A systematic capture of the faults (packet captures, routing table snapshots, label distribution states). • Clear root-cause analysis with emphasis on protocol compliance and vendor-specific quirks. • Remediation steps I can commit to production: configuration snippets, code patches or documented procedures. • A concise after-action report that shows before/after behaviour and any residual risk. Hands-on familiarity with MPLS VPNs, OSPF area design, BGP policy, multicast PIM/IGMP, QoS marking/queuing and ACL optimisation is essential. Tooling such as Wireshark, tcpdump, FRRouting, Cisco/Juniper CLI and any lab virtualisation you prefer is welcome, as long as the final fixes are replicable on our gear. I will grant remote lab access and provide current configs, topology diagrams and recent packet traces once we agree to move ahead. The engagement wraps when the documented fixes survive a 48-hour soak test without protocol drops or unexpected latency jumps. If that sounds like a puzzle you can crack, let’s get started.
