I have developed a proprietary methodology that applies advanced price-optimization techniques within the finance sector, and I am ready to secure formal protection. My immediate priority is to obtain a South African patent and, in the same process, lay the groundwork for international coverage—most likely via the PCT route—so the invention can be defended in other key jurisdictions later on. I am looking for a qualified patent practitioner who can guide and assist the entire journey from prior-art searches and claim drafting through to filing in South Africa and preparing the international application. Proven experience with utility-style patents for process-based inventions is essential, especially when those inventions centre on financial algorithms or business processes. Key outcomes I need from you: • A clear patentability opinion that addresses similar price-optimization solutions already on record. • Drafting of a complete specification and claims set that frames the methodology in a way that maximises enforceable protection. • Electronic filing in South Africa, followed by timely preparation and submission of the PCT application (or an alternative strategy you recommend for global reach). • Ongoing advice on timelines, office-action strategy, and any localisation steps required for major markets. The core challenge here isn't drafting or filing , it's making a price-optimization methodology survive substantive examination in jurisdictions that actually examine. South Africa's non-examining system will grant the patent, but that creates a false sense of security. The real test comes when your PCT application enters national phase in the US, EP, or other key markets, where examiners will push back hard on financial algorithms under Alice/Mayo or the EPO's "technical effect" doctrine. So the entire specification needs to be engineered backwards from those tougher jurisdictions. The claims must anchor the methodology to a concrete technical implementation , not just describe what the algorithm does, but how it structurally transforms the system it operates within. Your existing workflow diagram is a strong starting point, but it'll need to be reframed away from business-process language and toward technical architecture.
