When the script is called (from windows desktop) it will prompt for three inputs, one would be a part number, one a job number, and the third a print scheme...
It would then check the scheme; a user definable list of directories (e.g. S:DocCenterDrawings, S:DocCenterCut Sheets etc...); for any file name matching the first input (regardless of file extension, idealy). If it doesn't find one it skips to the next directory.
The goal is to user define the schemes, and end up with X number of copies of each document with a header containing the date, the job number, and a specific piece of text. For example, a scheme may look like:
If file matching "name1" is found in "directory1",
then print one copy with header "date" "job number" "defined text 1",
then print one copy with header "date" "job number" "defined text 2",
If file matching "name1" is found in "directory2",
then print one copy with header "date" "job number" "defined text 3",
then print one copy with header "date" "job number" "defined text 4",
then print one copy with header "date" "job number" "defined text 5",
Defining/editing the schemes will not be done frequently, and does not require any fancy interface. Text prompts would be fine, but a form might be nice.
The extent of customization would be changing the schemes, so as long as an interface is written in to change these things, the script itself will never need to be changed, therefor I don't care in which language it is written and compiled. Pick your favorite. It should let windows ask for the printer, but I only wan't to have to click print once on that dialogue, and have all the copies sent as one job. This way I end up with, say, three copies of the file from directory1, each with a different header printed over it (to designate which office the copy is for).
Please ask if that wasn't clear enough. I'll be happy to dialogue.
