Script to keep sendmail working

Job Description:
My sendmail stops working every few days. It does handle quite a bit of traffic. I need a script that I can run every hour to make sure it's working correctly and restart it if it's not.
Not sure if I made this clear:
I want to check every hour to see if it's running and if the script finds it's not running "correctly" then restart it.

Red Hat 6.2
Send Mail Version 8.9.3
