From the system , the users (either project manager or clients) should be able to follow up on the progress of projects containing environmental reports or audits at different stages during the project life cycle .The functionality that the system should have is as follows • A desktop application that is able to manage projects resources • Keep track of any given project status through notifications • Search through a company portfolios achieves • Distinguish different clients through contact forms . • Establish a tag system for easy classification of projects Functional Requirements (terms used EIA ( environmental impart assessment ) 1. Creation of new project with new client User : Authorized administrator /project manager Function : a new project is added by first indicating whether its and EIA or Audit . If it’s a new client ,the user will input the client information and the project status will indicated as default with is “ On-going”. All corresponding resources(if any ) associated with the new project will also be added . 2. Monitoring of projects Non-function Requirement 1. Operation Requirements a. The internet system will get information from the project database system which contain the following information about project( project status ,project name ,project ID ,project contents and category ). The internet system will not write information to the main project database other than displaying the project information . b. The Internet system and the desktop application should be both be synchronize to show the same data /information at any given time. 2. Performance Requirements a. The system should always respond to any change in the database with a real time delay of 30 minutes .(to be discussed ) b. Reliability – The system shall be 99 % up time . 3. Security Requirements a. Only registered clients will able to follow up on their project progress from the internet . b. The desktop application will be accessed by any corresponding project taker given access by project manager or an administrator . c. Registration of clients will be done by project manager or administrator (this is applicable on any system (both internet and desktop ). Each client should have his/her own unique key that identifies him/her to the relevant project . d. No project shall be public for any reason ,once a project status indicates completed and closed it should be not accessible from the internet . 4. Looks and feel Requirements a. Each project status should be highlighted by color code . ie I. Due for approval -green color II. Due for licensing –yellow III. Due for payment – red b. The overall desktop application will be development using Microsoft blend so rich colored interface is expected c. The overall system will have a green layout scheme corresponding with the company image 5. Maintainability and portability requirements a. The desktop application is excepted to work on window platform . b. The internet application is excepted to work on across all major browsers ( firefox ,Internet explorer ,chrome and safari) c. The final code base of the both applications will be left by IT correspondence for maintainability purposes. The maintenance release will be offered upon any changes requested . d.
