My client (an Arts Council in London) has a requirement to update their rather archaic room booking system from paper ledgers and paper forms to a CMS based on MySQL / PHP. They hire out room for concerts and meetings etc.
I would be interested to hear back from coders who would like to develop a bespoke system from scratch. The system must be easy to navigate.
This is the way that thier room booking system works at present:
They get a phone call to book a room.
They check availability of dates and times in a paper diary
Once they take a booking they write it in the diary and send out, by post, a Booking and Confirmation form with the details of the booking written in.
The form is currently in 3 parts; they keep one part for thier files, ask the client to return another signed part which they then staple to thier kept copy and which signifies they agree to the booking. The client keeps a copy for themselves. Alos along with this booking form they send a copy of our Conditions of Hire Notes which is an integral part of the Booking & Confirmation form.
They then send out an invoice at the time of booking or two months before the booking and currently this is in three fold too. One they keep, one goes to the client and one to the Treasurer.
They also require some stastical anaysis such as "the percentage of room usage in any one time period and also which rooms used most/least"
If you are interested in this project please send over URLs of similar work and ideas on how you see the current system working online in the first instance.
