I need a simple Question & Answer script consisting of two parts: an admin interface plus a script to be embedded in a PHP web page.
The admin interface must allow me to create, edit, and delete questions and corresponding answers to be stored in a database.
The script must randomly display a question, an input text box, and a submit button within a web page. The site visitor will enter their answer in the input box, and click SUBMIT. The script must check the answer against the database.
If the answer is correct, the script must load another page.
If the answer is incorrect, the script must present another question (i.e.: the visitor is given a second chance -- much like an incorrect password entry, except that the question will be a new one).
You can see how the script integrates into my web site by visiting [url removed, login to view] and clicking on "REGISTER" at the bottom of the page.
When REGISTER is clicked, a modal window opens -- this contains: preamble text (that I need to be able to easily create and format) followed by the output of the script. The CSS of both the question and the input text box must be configurable by me. The graphic image and positioning for the SUBMIT button must be able to be specified by me.
If the answer entered is incorrect, the "second chance" question must appear in this same window. The number of additional questions in the event of a wrong answer must be configurable by me (range: 1 to 3). If the visitor uses up their allowed number of questions, the script must cause a new modal window to load containing error text (content and formatting by me).
If the answer is correct, the script must cause the STEP 2 modal window to load (this is the way my demo works, since I have no actual checking). At this point the script has finished its job.
I will create all of the modal windows including the "Error" and "Success" windows. I will provide you with code to close your modal window and replace it with the appropriate result window.
Please don't assume anything -- if you are unclear about anything, please ask!
I do not believe that this is a complex project at all. Freelancer's drop-down budget selector only allows a low budget range of $30 to $250 (which, in my view, is far too broad). I am expecting to pay in the $30 to $60 range, unless I can be persuaded that there is more to the project than I am seeing.
CLARIFICATION: although similar in some respects, this is not a quiz. It is an online registration for a printed book.
The Q&A dialogue is actually to allow the user to enter their proof-of-purchase (since we have no way of knowing who has bought the books). A typical question might be, "Enter the first three words of the second sentence on page 135:"
Thus, there is only one correct answer for each question (which must be entered exactly by the user).
Only one question is intended to be asked and answered. The function of asking an additional question is the same as it is for an incorrect password entry -- maybe they mistyped something, so let's give them a second chance (or maybe a third, I haven't yet decided). After they fail to answer correctly twice (or thrice), they get an error page.
However, as soon as they get ONE correct answer, the script passes them on to the next step in the registration, and its job is finished.
