Homepage Design

I am in need of a single homepage to start. If a satisfactory job is done then I would prefer to work with the same developer on other aspects of this website in the future. This single page is simply a stater page for prototyping reasons and needs to be written with HTML. Javascript is fine as long as there is a workaround for clients who have it disabled. All graphics need to be original. I am granting the developer considerable control over the layout and creative aspects. It is critical that the developer I select not only has the technical ability to complete this project, but also the creative ability to make it look good. It needs to be a very elegant and professional design. This page will be the homepage of a web application for aspiring writers. The following elements need to be included somewhere on the page: 1) Links to other parts of the site including such things as Home, FAQ, Store, Forums, etc. 2) Links to the various literary genres including Romance, Mystery, Science Fiction, Horror, etc. 3) Need a place for a brief welcome and site news. 4) Need a place to display current site activity such as recent forum posts, highest ranked stories, any other creative use you can think of. 5) Need a place to display advertising, preferably along the righthand side of the page. These will most likely be Google-style text ads or vertical banners. 6) Need a place to login. 7) Need to use CSS so that changes can be made easily if necessary. 8) Please don't write sloppy code. I need a page that can be easily maintained. 9) A logo and name for the site have yet to be decided upon, but a place at the top of the page needs to be reserved for this. 10) Use graphics where appropriate. Don't overdo it, but don't underdo it either. I cannot stress enough the importance of a very professional design. Please be creative and feel free to experiment. This page will set the standard for the entire site. I would also like the option of being able to send the page back to you if there is anything I think should be worked differently, so please keep this in mind when placing your bid. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
