How do I set a sort order on a form in Access 2003 via vba that includes a functions such as Right([field name],1) which would allow me to sort by the last character in the field as [login to view URL] will not accept functions but Advance FIlter/Sort will..?
I am trying to change the sort order of a form via vba code depending on various fields on the form. I can do this via non vba through Advance Filter/Sort on the menu bar (or could do it via the RecordSource on the form, but is would static). I have tried using the OrderBy property on the form, but seems to only accept field names and not functions of field (e.g. RIGHT(), Left(), MID()).
For example, how can I get the form sorted (orderedby) the last character of a field "Right([field name],1)" Advnace Fiter/Sort will accept this, but the form's OrderBy will not.
Also, how can I display the the filter in a text box. I can set the data source to =[Me].[FilterOn] or =[Me].[OrderBy] but this will not work for =[Me].[Filter]...I get Name? in the text box.
As you can see, I am a indvidual playing with Access and will never get paid for my little program, so I cannot afford much, but am interested in learning more about programing in Access. My questions are, I think, short and simple and due to my lack on knowledge on Access programing. So, is anyone out there willing to help a novice learn more on a limited family budget?
