Currently, I am looking to build a customized classified site, with a similar clean yet modern looking style/layout to kijiji. This classified site will be designed specifically for medical trials/research studies and paid study volunteers.
Server side, it will be a Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP build, and will need to be loaded onto a web hosts server. This is open to change depending on your particular skills and the technologies implemented, but a low cost, open source system is much preferred.
The site is a paid classified system, with a variety of payment amounts depending on posting privileges desired. It needs to be set up with a payment solution that takes credit cards, and goes into an account that will convert it to Canadian Dollars.
Classified features include - multi field search, search/list results ranking changed by clicking column fields (i.e date, compensation, alphabetical, location) company directory and information attached to each posting (via a link), control panel for clients to post, edit, delete and view posts, control panel for volunteers to edit location, personal information, whether to receive emails/updates etc.
Upon volunteer registration, (not required to browse site and see posts) minimal personal information is required, volunteers can choose to be contacted by email should a classified post be made which matches their information (age, gender, weight, height, location etc in a range) if they choose to provide that information, choose if they would like to share their phone # with clients (research companies) should they meet client criteria for future studies.
There will be no front page (i.e the pre load location page), location will be an option in the search, if the user is registered it will default to their chosen location.
A small handful of tabs will give options for the homepage (introduction to the site) Classifieds page (all of the before mentioned features), Information page (on medical studies etc), Contact info/Help, and in the future perhaps a forum.
As the development of the site progresses there will most likely be changes, as I am talking to prospective clients and users about features, layout etc - therefore, I am setting the start date to immediately, and the date of completion to June 2011.
