An existing MySQL database contains citation information about journal articles and books, i.e. author names, article titles, journal titles, page numbers, etc. Each journal article needs to be looked up in Scopus and Web of Science to find it’s cited-by count, the number of times the article has been cited by other articles. This count and the URLs into Scopus and Web of Science displaying the citing articles should be written to another database so it can eventually be displayed on an internal website alongside the original article’s information.
The existing database is recreated many times and the unique index key will change so the new database will have to be recreated each time as well.
Error message handling should be included.
