493562 ExSellProperty Refactor Part 2:

Project 2

---------

Thanks so much for taking this one on too!

1) When people search for property, the words "Not Applicable" appear in several places. I believe this is a reference to

Rental Frequency, which variable we do not use. Please remove visible instances of this from both the search frontend

and the property manager backend (but in the backend please leave it as an option, as it is default).

Below are all instances of the string "Not Applicable" I could find in the code base. Should make job easier :)

In /var/www/[url removed, login to view]

----------------------------------------------

./com_exsellproperty/[url removed, login to view]: if($row->freq=='Not Applicable') $freq='';

./com_exsellproperty/views/listcate/tmpl/[url removed, login to view]: if($item->freq=='Not Applicable') $freq='';

./com_exsellproperty/views/detail/tmpl/[url removed, login to view]: if($this->data->freq !='Not Applicable') echo ' '.$this->data->freq;

./com_exsellproperty/views/register/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', 0, JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

./com_exsellproperty/views/register/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', JText::_( "Not Applicable" ), JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

./com_exsellproperty/views/search/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', '', JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

./com_exsellproperty/views/myproperty/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', 0, JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

./com_exsellproperty/views/myproperty/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', JText::_( "Not Applicable" ), JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

In /var/www/[url removed, login to view]

-------------------------------------------

./mod_ex_mutisearch/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', '', JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

In /var/www/[url removed, login to view]

-------------------------------------------------

./components/com_exsellproperty/views/property/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', 0, JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

./components/com_exsellproperty/views/property/[url removed, login to view]: $types[] = JHTML::_('[url removed, login to view]', JText::_( "Not Applicable" ), JText::_( "Not Applicable" ) );

2) Searching by Bedrooms appears not to work. I tried a search with no parameters except Min. Bedrooms (= 1) and

it returns zero results. Bathrooms work, but not bedrooms.

3) On that note, the number of bedrooms doesn't appear in the listings when people search. I suspect this problem

and problem 2) are related...

4) When someone edits a property from the frontend, any settings controlled by a dropdown menu or radio button are automatically

reset to their default states, e.g., number of bedrooms or whether to feature or not. Can this be fixed?

5) As you mentioned, pagination does not properly work. When more than 20 results are returned by a search,

clicking the 2, 3, 4, etc. or the Next link takes them to a blank search page.

Something odd about this: if they choose one of the radio buttons above like rent or sell and click Search again,

they are taken to the page they requested with the number or Next link! So, this may be a problem of component

placement in Joomla, or it may be a problem with the code. I can't tell.

6) It is possible to make a Menu Item pointing to New Listings from ExSellProperty; however, it does not allow us to

choose, for example, only new rentals, new sales, etc, to be displayed, only all new listings of all types. Therefore,

please change the code so that it is possible to make menu items this way.

Steps:

1) Go to Menus in backend --> magazine* and choose the item Rent--Newly Listed Properties to rent in NY

2) Click CHANGE TYPE button

3) Choose Ex Sell Property item

4) Here is the problem: We can choose New Property Listings Layout, but this is ALL new listings

What we need: Menu Items for New Rentals, New Sales, Featured Rentals, Featured Sales. I am guessing that

these would be created by studying the existing New Property Listings Layout item, as their purpose and function

would be similar to this.
