I have an old site that needs upgrading. It uses:
Joomla [url removed, login to view]
phpGEDview 1.2.4 (Feb. 2006)
Coppermine [url removed, login to view]
(bridged to Joomla via
Mehdi's old Joomla/Coppermine Bridge hack ([url removed, login to view]) )
Plus the following Joomla components:
FireBoard 1.2.4 (Nov. 2006)
DocMan [url removed, login to view]
EasyFAQ [url removed, login to view]
MetaTag Generator 1.0
uddeIM 1.1 (Mar. 2008)
I need someone to:
1. Backup all the databases of these three applications (Coppermine, Joomla, phpGEDview).
Upgrade phpGEDview in two stages, first to 4.0.2 as an intermediate step. Then to the latest version.
Upgrade Coppermine to the latest version, however Coppermine recommends.
Upgrade all Joomla components, including FireBoard conversion to Kunena forum, and DocMan--- and including all Joomla modules, including the coppermine and phpGEDview display modules.
Upgrade Mehdi's Coppermine Bridge to the new un-hacked version.
All of the scripts (Joomla and Coppermine and phpGEDview) -- and the listed Joomla components -- have published upgrade paths to get their current versions. If you don't know them all from experience, you'll have to read up on them.
Some of the components may require two-step upgrading: one upgrade to a certain level before upgrading Joomla from 1.0 to 1.5, and a further upgrade to the current version after.
The most fragile part of the job is probably the Fireboard to Kunena migration, but people have done it before. And the Mehdi bridge is now a patchless component for J 1.5, no longer a hack.
In any case, the project includes preserving (or otherwise restoring if lost) the data. So please bid accordingly.
