I need to be able to monitor a folder on my server (Linux) so whenever a file arrives in it it registers with my database (MySQL).
I currently have a PHP script that checks for new files and displays them in a list when it loads.
I need the files to register immediately after upload to allow a popup window to appear on my desktop so I can add a description to the database table immediately after upload so I dont have to keep logging into the PHP website all the time.
I do plan to use this to monitor other folders because I setup these applications to handle different projects so it needs to be easily configured.
I only have FTP access to the server which means I cant run any linux commands on it. This program will have to be managed by PHP or Cron Job or something.. Please help.
