The main goal of the project is to understand the relationship between users’ mobility and their social ties.
This is research project concentrated on obtaining users mobility data. At the first login user creates his/her account, providing his login and password. The application communicates with Amazon EC2 instance, running MySQL, and creates corresponding record for given user. The user obtains an user id, that will be using in his records. With the fixed time interval the application sends post request to the server, containing json data with timestamp and current GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude). The server side records user coordinates in the form of:

Server side responds to user, specifying which logged-in users are around (within some radius of, say, 0.5-1.0 km). User can see the locations of nearby users and also can retrieve their names to specify, whether the selected neighbor is his/her friends or not. This data is stored in a separate table in form of adjacency list:

if no friends are specified, where numbers are users’ ids. It might be reasonable to add the timestamp, for example:
03/05/2011 23:04:00 1-> 8, 5,234, 98, 6 (users with id 8,5,234,98,6 are specified as user 1 friends among all users around )

On the main activity there should be appeared the brief description of the project and fields for login/password.
After user’s login the activity is invoked that shows user’s current GPS coordinates and his neighborhood (may be google maps). On clicking each neighbor position user can see his name and specify whether he/she is his friend of not. This activity also shall contain an opportunity to exit.
On entering application the recording of user’s coordinates is started, on exit, the current coordinates are recorded to database and application closes current user’s record and server side sends the request to other users in the neighborhood, running this application that given user is exited. When user starts the application again by logging –in, it should inform the server to open record for user with given ID, and the server side sends the request to all active users nearby that this user is logged (he appears on their maps).
