Hi If your new linux server will be just used for mailing purpose then i have some suggestions, I configure Zimbra Foss edition 8.0.5 on the server with csf(firewall), local DNS & RBL configured. these will enhance performance of the server and avoid any spam in/out from the server. CSF: will limit or block the user trying to login using wrong password or making multiple wrong attempts to access the server. DNS: This will improve the performance as mail server has to continuously query DNS server for domain resolution. local dns will eliminate this process as the server always the DNS cache. RBL: all the mails coming in will be checked with the respective RBL for their domain or IP reputation. This will block the spam coming in to the server. We can migrate mails from windows to linux using ImapSync. I have 4 year strong experience working in IDC environment and working on zimbra solution.
