have a client who sells carpet runner. There will be only one item that he sells. Buyer will select a carpet color, then select a width, then enter a length. Based on that, the cost will be calculated, so is the weight. (weight = (length*width)/2.5) This weight will then be passed along to UPS for real time shipping cost (if the carpet is under the weight restriction, which is 150 lbs). Anything exceeding UPS limitation (either weight or size) will be sent via Fedex. There will be YourPay® or LinkPoint® Connect solutions from First Data for credit card processing.
Please let me know if you can customize x-cart software to support this requirement.
Here's the example of how price is set up:
3FT WIDE IS $7.50 FT
4FT WIDE IS $8.00 FT
5FT WIDE IS $9.00 FT
6FT WIDE IS $10.00 FT
7FT WIDE IS $13.00 FT
8FT WIDE IS $13.50 FT
9FT WIDE IS $14.00 FT
Example: 3 x 10 (10x$7.50=$75.00) - weight will be 12 lbs (30 / 2.5)
Length is a user input field, must be numeric. If we can't customize the logic to pass along to Fedex when the item exceed 150 lbs, then there will be logic to limit the size of the length (a message box will popup to say length exceed limit – please contact us by phone to order… something like that).
Here's the length limitation, if we have to do it that way:
3 x 125 (3FT – max length is 125 FT)
4 x 93 (4Ft – max length is 93 FT)
5 x 75
6 x 62
8 x 46
9 x 41
This would be it because anything over 9 ft has to go fed ex heavy freight.
I'm using x-cart Gold, version 4.1.9
