Using a Wordpress 3.9.2 site/theme.
In this site, I need:
1. Custom Post (or Page?) Types
2. Specific Taxonomies added
I have been able to add the features above using plugins.
What's missing are multiple dropdowns to filter the posts based upon the multiple taxonomies. The user selection can "actively" display the results (ie: AJAX, etc.) or use a SUBMIT button to process the results. Either method is fine.
If the site were sports related... after the "Events" and "Sports" taxonomies' have been created...
These dropdowns would display in the page above the content:
- - dropdown filter #1 - - - - dropdown filter #2 - -
Indoor Events Winter Sports
Outdoor Events Summer Sports
*Again, these dropdowns need to display just above the contents. Shortcodes for each dropdown would be awesome.
The full list and the filtered "results" are to be displayed within one "Sports" page. In other words, the "main" page will either display the contents of a PAGE using a customized excerpt or the "main" page will display a POST that has an excerpt. I'm not sure if a PAGE or a POST is the way to go. A unique template may be necessary. ??
It would be preferable if the filtering could be accomplished using a plugin rather than just adding to the '[url removed, login to view]' file. This can even be a plugin that currently exists... No kidding. If you can accomplish this using an out-of-the-box plugin THAT IS CURRENT AND COMPATIBLE WITH WP 3.9.2, that's fine. Otherwise, I would like a plugin to handle this.
However, if you can explain the benefits of simply adding code to the "[url removed, login to view]" file and it seems reasonable, that will be fine.
