I need a web-based program that, given the detailed postal rates in an Excel table (job already done by me), automatically detect/extract shipping prices for parcel and packs of specified weight, dimension and value, for the various destinations.
PROGRAM INPUT: as data source I prepared (and the program have to read from) the attached Excel file in which I reported all the essential characteristics and prices of the shipping methods provided from the italian national Posts.
You can eventually transcribe it into a MySQL or MSSQL or MS Access database if your program can't work directly with the Excel file...
PROGRAM OUTPUT: as output, the program must have two essential purposes:
1: to act as a comparison engine for finding the most convenient shipping method, given the specifications (weight, dimension and value), for a single destination (e.g. Germany); as output in this case I want it to generate all the possible available solutions starting from the most convenient to the less convenient (but still possible considering the parcel/pack specifications), with all the available details for each solution;
2: to generate a nice "shipping rates" HTML table with best price and details for the all (about twenty) country destinations. I'll copy and paste this table at the end of all my single-products' pages of my e-commerce website, so that buyers from these countries can immediately read the shipping costs and details that apply to them for the product on sale.
I created three files to help you:
File 1 ([url removed, login to view]): the Excel file described above containing all the italian detailed postal rates;
File 2 ([url removed, login to view]): a draft of the HTML user interface of the program, that also give you an (almost) exact idea of the nature of the parameters your program must manage/use for its decisions;
File 3 ([url removed, login to view]): a draft of the output for the second of the purposes described above (the "shipping rates" HTML table). NOTE: this is only as an example of the look and feel (graphic) of the table. The values and the destinations shown are not the exact ones. I invented them just to give you an idea. Your program will extract the exact values from [url removed, login to view] (or a database copy of it if you prefer to work with a database instead of directly with the XLS...).
In regard to the first of the purposes described above you are free to choose the best looking way to show the results.
- the program code must be easily readable/understandable in a way that any programmer can easily personalize it and add, subtract or modify the input data, e.g. when there are new carriers and shipping methods to add;
- The Excel input data, with the shipping method details, must remain as is, with the same number of lines and simpleness. As wrote above you can eventually transcribe it to a database. But you can't make it more complex. It's your program that must adapt to it, not it that must adapt to your program.
- I remain the exclusive owner of the code.
I escrow the payment in advance.
Eventually, I'll pay you more than you bid here if we agree on useful improvements on this program that I've not considered here.
In case you prove to me with facts that you are an excellent coder, I could provide you other works on this or other similar projects and I promise you an excellent feedback.
Thank you in advance for your bids.

The project as i see it, could be completed in less than 2 hours of time. It would be completed using asp and ajax. Even further, we can make it in FLASH, with streaming data. regards
I will try to make as robust and accurate as you can dream of. Though I'm new to this site, but well experienced in software development. I will do it AJAX way with C# sitting on the server end.
We will be able to complete your project in the given timeframe. For additional information about us please leave a private message. Thank you.
