This is for a small firm supplying children’s bedroom and related furniture and items.
The site requires a CMS.
The site has already been styled and has the look:
[url removed, login to view]
An important note:
The site has been built using 3rd Party software, and as a result the CSS is over done. The developer will probably have to tidy this first before they can properly get to work.
The site must do the following:
All static text, images, flash and products must be able to be edited using the CMS.
The main navigation along the top of the page contains the main categories – Furniture, Beds, and Mattresses etc. This is fixed, it’s the drop down menus below them (sub-categories) that need to be dynamically populated / created by using the CMS.
The CMS must do the following:
• The ability to add/remove/display new products
• Add new sub-categories
• Add additional fields to different sub-categories
• Map specific related products to other specific products, see next paragraph.
For example: Beds >> High Beds >> High Sleeper 2 by Thuka Hit may have an available matching wardrobe and bedside lamp. These would display below the main product as optional extras and can be linked to their main listing within the site. The additional items can be displayed much smaller so they fit in neatly below the main product.
Add-on items will also be available as main products to buy through the other drop down menu categories. For example a lamp which could be shown below the High Sleeper 2 by Thuka Hit as an add-on, would also be available through Accessories >> Lamps.
Next to each main product there will be an “Add to Order”. This would send the main product to the order form. Add-on products may have a tick-box, so clicking on the “Add to Order” button on the main image would also include any other products which have been checked.
If the main product is available in more than one colour, a drop down box displaying colour options would be necessary. Changing this would change the picture, prices, add-ons and other displayed information as necessary.
The order form will be similar to a basket, the difference being it will send the order via email to the client, not to a payment page. It will still require the need to amend quantities or delete. Below the item lines on the Order page there should be fields for Full Name, Invoice Address, Delivery Address (optional if different to Invoice), email, telephone and submit button.
Tracking System for Orders
This information will come from the CMS/Database. Basically it is all orders collected from the website, so it will contain all details such as contact info, addresses, etc.
At any time we need to be able to update and 'track' the progress of an order and with the ability to be able to search for an order.
The status of the order via the CMS needs to be changed through a drop-down box to any of the following:
ORDERED FROM SUPPLIER, INSTOCK, SUPPLER DIRECT DELIVERY, SCHEDULED FOR DELIVERY, DELIVERED. The ability to create additional items is needed.
A notes field is also required.
When the status changes and is submitted, the status date changes to the current date. There is also the original order placed date, which does not change.
Finally, a way to create reports from the Tracking System.
Find any order(s) by Date, Status Date, and Status and by a search box.
I see no major restrictions of the server / database software to be used, ask if you are unsure that the server can support it.
