“The jQuery Cycle Plugin is a slideshow plugin that supports many different types of transition effects. It supports pause-on-hover, auto-stop, auto-fit, before/after callbacks, click triggers and much more.” Quoted from [url removed, login to view]
We have implemented this Plugin on our site in the header, as can be seen here with the scrolling images at the top of the page – [url removed, login to view]
For us, the content is static and is only manually updated when we get the chance. It also starts with the same images on each page, and ends with the same images (i.e. there are six panels 1-6, then it repeats starting at 1.
We would like to do two things:
1) Implement dynamic content – Everyday our site automatically updates what is new or updated. It can be seen at [url removed, login to view] The updated data itself is stored in an online database. We would like to use the data/images that are new or updated in our header image scroller, dynamically (i.e. pulling from the database). Of course, we can’t have a huge draw on site resources, so tricks to reduce bandwidth excess would be needed. Making the data and images we have work with the plugin will be the trick to a successful project.
2) Implement session control or similar feature – ideally we would want to display as many different images as possible to our site users, without getting repeats For example, user A comes to our site and visits 14 pages. The image scroller should display different images on each page that are clickable (as they are now) to the specific image. They also need to scroll as the user sits on a page.
If you are interested in providing a bid, please let us know if you have worked with JQuery Cycle before and if this can be done with this particular plugin, OR you have not worked with Cycle before but are confident you can make this work based on your background, OR you have worked with similar requests like this in the past and have a better solution that can be implemented easier than using Cycle, yet meet our desired outcome of dynamic image scrolling with session control.
Looking forward to working with you in the future.
