I currently have a developed monitoring system and I would like to make a few additions and improvements to the scripts.
1) GTalk Alerts - I have a script that can send gTalk notices to someone. It is normally used for a bot, so it may need a couple changes. You also need to add a field where users could enter their gTalk address, if they have one.
2) Alternative Way of Checking - Our monitor works by reading a script on another server. Some servers are not compatible with the script due to security reasons. I have another script fully created and I need the system to be able to read this new script or the old one. They are basically in the same format, just a different way to get certain variables.
3) Higher Accuracy - Occasionally, something does go wrong and the system does not pull any data from the server being monitored. If this is the case, I would like the system to try again, and if it still does not work, then mark the server as down.
4) Cache - If a user wants to monitor their server's RAM, they enter a percent on when to alert them. Say I am monitoring a server with 8gb RAM and want to be alerted if the RAM goes to 75%. Our system will see the server has 8gb and take 75% of this. The issue is when the server is down, the alert goes to 0% as the system thinks there is no RAM. I basically want the script to save the RAM alert level, and HD alert level, every 24 hours.
Overall, it may sound a little complicated, but I would be surprised if it took more than 3 hours of pure coding.
