I own a small candle and candles accessories store and also had a website until recently. The person that converted my old website to os commerce also hosted the site. One day the site was gone and the guy dropped off the face of the earth. I later discovered he didn’t pay his server. I had no backup and I’m now in the process of recreating the site. Oscmax has been installed and needs work.
The person I’m looking for has to have expertise in oscmax and be able to create a customized candle page, scent page, header, color scheme and be able to tweak the site to fit my business needs.
I will try my best to describe what I need done. I’m completely clueless and don’t know the technical language so please excuse my ignorance.
To help explain the scent page I’ll try and remember the steps I used from the old os commerce site that no longer exit. When I added a new scent I’d go to the admin site, from there the catalog. Once at the catalog page on the left side with the catalog, attributes, reports, etc scents was also listed. Let’s say I wanted to add a new scent, hot apple pie, I’d then choose scents. At the scent page I had four categories Food, Fruit, Floral and Fun. I’d select Food and add new product. Once at the Food page I could select either new or best sellers. (New would appear in red and best seller would appear in green on the website.) Next I would add the name of the scent and below that would be the description. Then I would go back to the main catalog page that list all the different categories for example candles, electric tart burner, tea light tart burners, etc. I’d choose candles and listed would be jar candles, votives, and melts. I would select jar candles. Showing on the page would be the four scent columns (Food, Fruit, Floral and Fun). In front of each scent name would be a small box that I could check or uncheck depending if I wanted that particular scent to appear on the website. I would check the newly added hot apple pie. I would repeat this process for each of the candle categories (jar, votives, melts).
The scents appeared at the bottom of each product page with the option of enabling or disabling.
Now for the candle pages themselves as they appeared on the website. The jar candle page had a drop menu for size, large, medium and small. The scents were listed in four columns (Food, Fruit, Floral and Fun) and in front of each scent name was a small box that the customer would enter the quantity numerically. Also when the cursor was placed over the scent name the description would appear. The votives and melts only come in one size so the drop menu is only needed for the jar candles. I had customers that would order 50+ votives or melts. This setup was great because it allowed them to see all the scents at one time and were able to select as many scents and quantities as they wanted before going to the “add to cart” button.
The color scheme for the site would be dark burgundy background, light tan fonts and scroll bar with dark green boarders, but I welcome any and all suggestions. I have two pictures that I want incorporated into the header. Plus I also want featured products on the front page. Right now all that is listed is new products.
Now for tweaking the site…there was an issue from the old site that never got resolved. I sell votives [url removed, login to view] each or [url removed, login to view] for five or more (mix and match) and melts for .99 and .75 for five or more (mix and match). On the old site it would only take the discounted price if you bought 5 votives or melts of the same scent. Is it possible to have the discount once the customer has ordered 5 votives or melts no matter what the scent?
I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0. I’ve saved all the picture sizes in the same pixels and resolution, but they appear in different sizes on the site. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Will also need to have the picture sizes set the same.
I also want a separate “scent descriptions” on the site map. This would be easier for those customers wanting a hard copy of the scent descriptions.
Is it possible to have a separate clearance category where items can be listed by product type? I don’t want items listed twice but only on the clearance pages.
Is it possible to have the edit files for the cross sales to be in alphabetical order? This setup is much harder to work with than the old os commerce. In fact on my old site the cross sale option was listed on each product page rather than a separate category. I prefer the old setup where I could add cross sells from the product page. Is that possible?
I also want the categories on the site map put in a particular order.
I don’t need the language and currencies since I only ship in the US.
I want the items defaulted by manufacturer so that similar items appear together.
I also want a tool bar in the descriptions so that I will be able to change fonts, font color, underline, bold, links etc.
I need this project as soon as possible. I’ve been without a site for months and my customers are getting frustrated having to call in orders plus the holiday season is just around the corner.
