Looking to create a wordpress plug in for 3.0
Featured Image "Plugin"
Right now, Wordpress 3.0 has an admin feature called "Featured Image". Out of the box it allows you to set a featured image. We would like to build off the existing functionality to allow the admin to add Alternate Images (Unlimited).
This "Featured Image" function appears to work as follows:
In the postmeta table, when a new Featured Image is added it writes "featured_image" in the key field and "[url removed, login to view]" in the value field. We would like additional images to be added as "alternate_image" in the key field and [url removed, login to view] in the value field. Likewise the next one would be added as "alternate_image" in the key field and [url removed, login to view] in the value field. And so on. There is no longer a need for a priority number.
In the Wordpress admin, we would like the "Featured Image" to look and function the same, but below there would be the option to add an "Alternate Image", once added there would be the option to add another, and so on.
We will still add images to the media library for use in post descriptions, but not as part of the "Featured Image" or "Alternate Image".
Nothing is needed on the front end as once the data is in the postmeta table it will be easy to pull the "Featured Image" and show it large and pull all of those images called "Alternate Image" and show them smaller.
