- You must be familiar with Wordpress (PHP & mySQL).
- You must be able to code, troubleshoot, and optimize Wordpress plugins.
- You must be familiar with Amazon's AWS and Amazon's API.
- You must have the latest version of the Thesis Theme (v1.7) from (diythemes dot com).
- You must be knowledgeable on Thesis Hooks and Thesis coding.
I have had a custom Wordpress plugin designed and coded. The plugin integrates with the Thesis Theme. The plugin parses user-specified Amazon RSS product feeds, extracts the product images and the product meta-data from the RSS feeds, and it adds an associate-ID to those images. PHP functions unique to the Thesis Theme are used to determine where those images will appear in the blog.
You job will be to modify, tweak, optimize, and coded in a few more features to the existing plugin. In addition, your job will be to troubleshoot existing errors with the plugin. I want a fresh pair of eyes to examine this plugin before it is released to the public.
. Add the following information to the URL linking to Amazon. This means creating the appropriate input forms for such information within the administration menu.
-- Amazon Access Key ID
-- Amazon Secret Access Key
** This must be done in order to avoid any potential violation of Amazon's TOS for its affiliates.
[1.a] If the Amazon Access Key ID and/or the Amazon Secret Access Key is not specified, show an error in the administration menu.
[2.] When a campaign is deleted, remove all traces of the campaign from the cached images folder. In addition, remove the folder that shared the same name as the campaign.
[3.] Set a limit for the length of a campaign's name & substitute spaces in the campaign's name with dashes. Right now, the plugin will create a cached images folder that has the same name as the campaign. If the campaign name has a space in it, then the folder name will also have a space in it. I would like the folders NOT to have a space, but rather, spaces should be substituted with a dash '-'. For example, a campaign named "Red Zone" should have its images stored in the folder "red-zone".
[4.] Create a file for each campaign that stores the campaign variables and options. [Exclude storing the Amazon secret Key.] (I think that right now, campaign options are being stored in the database.) The reason for this file is for debugging and troubleshooting purposes.
[5.] Verify and correct the conditional displaying of campaigns. For example, campaigns specified for a Wordpress "page" are showing up in a Wordpress "category," and vice versa. I want there to be an "iron-clad" method of rendering the campaigns using conditional states unique to Wordpress (page, post, category) AND to Thesis Theme (various positions on the page, various positions on the post, various positions on the category).
[5.a] Code an option that'll toggle the displaying of campaigns within categories, but not for posts within those categories. What I mean is that I'd like an option to have campaigns show up within the category index page(s), but not necessarily have those same campaigns show up for those particular posts which happen to be classified within those particular categories. Right now, if a campaign is selected to be displayed within a "category," it'll show up for all those posts within the category and on the category index page(s).
[6.] Make recommendations to me to improve this plugin even further! I'll consider your suggestions, and will award bonus money (after negotiation) either through bonus escrow or through direct payment from PayPal.
