This site serves several primary roles for the authors: - Promotes The Book: The site helps prospective buyers become familiar with the book’s contents and the backgrounds of the authors through an About The Book page, Author’s Bios pages and video introductions from the authors.? - Broadens the Information for the book: The Web site will feature additional information which could not be included in the print edition due to space limitations and new information released after the publication date.? - Teaching Materials: The site will host teaching materials, lectures, quizzes and PowerPoint presentations for camera club’s, University and High School photo programs.? - Author Promotion: The site promotes the authors and their work. The site will link to any workshops, additional products or webinars offered by the authors.? - Email Gathering: The opt-in newsletter (hosted through My [login to view URL]) allows readers to receive a monthly E-newsletter from the authors.? **Site Hosting:** ? The site will be hosted on MediaTemple’s Grid Servers **Site Management/Content Creation** Content creation will be done through an open-source content management system (e.g Drupal, Joomla, etc) using a WYSIWYG interface.? **Site Design** Design of site should mirror book design elements (lots of white space, Perfect Digital Photography Header and color scheme). We prefer to have graphic design completed separately from this bid based on input and sizing requirements given by site designer.? Web site will have four primary page designs. **Landing Page:** The goal of this page is to help a prospective reader gather the information they need to make a purchasing decision and to help existing readers navigate to additional content. The initial introduction to the book and quick navigation to the resources on the page. This page will have customer testimonials cycling through every 45-60 seconds, a link to purchase the book on [login to view URL] or other reseller and promotional text to introduce the book to prospective readers.? Navigational elements will help existing readers quickly access the additional content they are looking for.? **Content Page:** The content pages are the default design for new pages. They emphasize the display of text-based content and will be used for book summaries, author’s bios and additional information.? **Content With Comments:** The Content With Comments pages are identical to the Content Pages with the addition of a comments field for readers to add to the material presented on the page. For example, a CWC page on purchasing a monitor allows readers to recommend or discourage the purchase of a specific monitor. Comments will be moderated by an administrator prior to display and require the use of a capchka or similar system to reduce comment Spam.? The authors will determine which pages should and should not have comments on the page. Please create both types of pages, or a method to enable/disable contents as part of the CMS’ page template.? **Video Page:** Several video tutorials will be added to the site requiring a larger-than-normal page for displaying 800x600 pixel videos. These videos will be hosted through a third-party company and HTML embed codes used for delivering the video.? **Technical Considerations** Site should support? - PDF, ZIP Downloads - HTML embed codes for videos (Ooyala, Vimeo, YouTube @ 800x600 pixels) - FLV or QuickTime Videos (optional)? - Comments field - Google Analytics integration - Accessible from iPhone and other mobile devices.? - Please recommend an open-source Content Management System appropriate for this Web site and identify any areas in the site description requiring custom development.? - Please recommend solutions for searching & navigating as the content of the site expands. It is expected we will begin with approximately 100 pages and expand to several hundred pages.? - Please recommend a system for backing up and recovering site to protect against an attack or server failure.? Future Considerations: In future revisions to the site, we may wish to add User Forums or “members only?? content requiring a user login. We are also considering integrating social bookmarking and networking tools into the content of the site to improve the site’s marketing reach.?
