This contract is for the server-side logic of an Event Countdown application and it will be implemented using Ruby on Rails. Your final submission should include detailed documentation on setting up the application including all scripts and db migrations (design for MySQL). You may be expected to collaborate with the developer of the client-side Flash application before final acceptance of the project. This project is easier to understand if I describe the client-side first. The client is a flash application which permits the user to create an Event which is composed of: - Event DateTime - Countdown Message Text (with configurable style) - Timer Expired Message Text (with configurable style) (e.g. "Only 54 days, 12 hours, 13 seconds left until Christmas!") These variables are submitted to the server using HTTP POST. A seperate Flash application then requests and parses XML data from the server to display the animated running countdown timer. - Handles submission of POST'd form variables - Creates a row in Events table - View takes Event ID as parameter and generates XML output using Builder. For example: 324234 $D days, $H hours $M minutes left until Christmas #DDDDDD #FF0000 Courier Christmas is here! #DDDDDD #FF0000 Times New Roman
