It’s a Catholic website, please do not bid or review if this is against your religious beliefs.
Much of the content is in French and English and translated – you do not need to speak French to do this, but you do need to recognise that some of the text has accents, it might perhaps affect how the XML is handled and how searches can run successfully.
The website was a custom built PHP site, that looked basic and bland, and allowed documents to be viewed online. The documents were created from the XML feeds.
Essentially it’s a library of scripture that anyone can search through and read online.
So the idea being anyone can read the letters on the website by clicking the links and seeing them in the middle of the page. See design [login to view URL] for an idea of how it might look.
The site provides Catholic letters and scripture from 200 years ago thousands of letters.
It’s the bicentennial this year and we really want that website back up fast.
We do have the PDF of what the design should look like.
And we have the XML files and structure, and all the files to go into this website again.
So the job is to make a new website that is responsive design but basic design, similar if not identical to this PDF, and to propagate with the content.
I have a wordpress plugin called WP All Import to import the XML, but I find that the XML is broken into different chunks in a way that I think is not so good to work with,
I had assumed that each XML file would be a full letter from title, date, content, signature should be 1 file, instead they are broken down into separate feeds for each title, date, content by paragraph (s a 3 paragraph letter is 3 files feeds, signature, paragraphs as files.
We don’t have to use WordPress, it’s just my preference.
There is also a library of PDFs and Word Docs to load into categories to be viewed online or downloaded. I have embed-any-document-plus wordpress plugin, but ideally I wanted something that allows the content to be searchable.
Ideally we want the XML feed content to display and be searchable.
And ideally we want users to be able to print the letters as PDFs.
the design [login to view URL]
The design PDF shows as logged in ; The website itself is public facing, and only admin users need to have logins.
Please take a look at the attached. The word doc [login to view URL] explains what each folder contains.
The files as a zip are 213MB, so I have just loaded the 1folder of XML files [login to view URL] - and 1 of the folders of PDFs DMJ [login to view URL], the rest are all PDF folders to be handled the same way as the other PDF folders.
We need access to see your work while you are producing this, and you will need to be able to communicate with me and the client directly. I am paying for this as compensation for deleting it the first time round in error.
When finished, the site will need to be transferred by you to either my VPS or a shared hosting platform. We only run PHP, no ASP servers.
If you can help please let me know your price and timeline, and availability – ie what timezone you work in.
Sometimes on sites like these we get quotes come in really fast and it's clear they have not read the brief, so to demonstrate you have read this, please can you reply with the word “angel” in the response.
It's 1.17am here and I usually work office hours, so I am going to post this then go to sleep but will be back at 9am our time, 8 hours from now.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you can help.
