Nagios Core - Setup and Configuration Our existing Zenoss server is being phased out, so we're looking to implement a new monitoring server with Nagios Core. **You do NOT need to add every single piece of equipment for us, but keep in mind the time frame you quote for!** Hate to be blunt, but some people don't understand this; Do NOT submit a proposal if you have not setup a 'Nagios Core' monitoring server from scratch before. We look to your advice and professional knowledge to guide this project's progression! If you haven't done this before you'll be wasting your time and ours. Once you are rewarded the project, you are responsible for telling us which Linux and Nagios Core versions you wish to work with on this. Keeping in contact throughout the project is a must. (With the Freelancer mobile application being available, there are no excuses we can't communicate daily.) The devices to be monitored will need to be divided by category. Basic categories to begin with are fine. All of our devices are SNMP 1 or 2. Below are the sample device categories and services we expect per device type. Device & Services; - Cameras (Ping) - Radios (dBm, Jitter, RSSi, & Ping) - Routers (CPU, Interface, RAM, & Ping) - Servers (CPU, Disk Space, I/O, Interface, RAM, & Ping) - Switches (CPU, Interface, RAM, & Ping) Below is a list of products we currently use. It's a short list, so please read it. If you do not feel as though you can support the devices below, then please read up on them or refrain from submitting a proposal. Manufacturers we use; - Cambium (Radios) - Cisco (Routers & Switches) - Linux (Servers) - Mikrotik (Routers & Switches) - Motorola (Radios) - Ubiquity (Radios) - Windows (Servers) Wherever applicable, we desire real time and/or historical graphing. Based off of your opinion and knowledge, we'll be able to discuss the application of this request. However, the absence of graphical monitoring is not an option unfortunately. Since we're an ISP and MSP, you can rest assured that there is future work waiting if you can professionally perform the base setup as directed above. We look forward to your proposals.

Just let me know if you need a demo I have a demo system ready!! hi, I have just finished setting up a Nagios Core 4.0.8 server with NDOUTILS and NagiosQL. the OS I would recommend is CentOS, I have not monitored all the devices that you have mentioned , but as per my experience any device having SNMP can be monitored very well with Nagios for example if the Radio's SNMP supports dBm, Jitter, RSSi , we can make nagios present the data in any way we want, but if the data is not coming from SNMP we will have difficulty having to get the data and make reports on it. now for the graphical representation we can use PNP4nagios or if you have any other way in mind kindly let me know. if we can have some chat about the project, I think we both can better understand what are the end results going to be. regards,

I have setup nagios many times before, though it was a few years back. I think I can complete this task efficiently by referring their docs to refresh my memory. I have 8 years of experience in the hosting industry and have enough knowledge to understand its working and get this tasks completed.

I have used Nagios for over 10 years (it has gone through many name changes and owners) and currently use it myself to monitor all my clients servers as well as my datacenter and clouds. I have written custom modules as well as automated 'task handlers' for 'one off' devices. I will suggest a similar approach. Did you hear about check_mk? In simple words is like an evolution of Nagios, easier to handle for you. My proposal, I installed you the check_mk suite (Nagios core, PNP4nagios, check_mk frontend in python) and configue a bunch of SNMP devices. Currenly, I have about 20 happy customers monitoring about 300 devices with almost 5000 services. I think this is a nice record :). Please, contact me if you want mor details.

Hello friends, First of all a very warm greeting, I worked for many years as WAN & ISP networks administrator, in a company in my country, with over 20k users between the years 2000- 2010. Our NOC (Network Operation Center) started with the implementation of Nagios and MRTG as key monitoring tools. Today I work on my own and administer a small personal network platform with 150 SNMP1-2 Devices, but now used a free software tool based on Nagios and rrdtools (Open Source) much more friendly and manageable, with all monitoring functions request, multiples MIBs variable options, and in a completely graphical environment and user profiles. For $ 250 I can accomplish the task of installing and configuring the application. Necessary resources: - Dual Core Server, Min 2GB RAM, 20Gb HD (VPS Proxmox is better). If you want to configure them myself VPS server. - ISO image of the NOC application (I give them directions on how to get it). - Broadband ISP and network access for monitoring. - Installation and configuration of the NOC server. Taking these resources within 48 hours give them the NOC server ready, with instructions so that you can configure them in the future. Sorry for my English, Rgs. Rafael.
