I have an account on [login to view URL], and they
installed sugar open source on my account for me. I
have looked through sugar and it looks great for a
friend of mine and i who are trying to get a small
business off the ground and live 2 hours apart and
don't meet regularly.
He currently uses Act 6 and i want us to use sugar as
we can access it online, but it needs to do all that
he can do in Act. It would also need to be able to
import his current list of about 550 contacts from
Act.
The upshot is, that i am a happy amateur (dangerous!!)
and can kind of find my way round in terms of web
design etc, and i can talk the talk to a degree, but
when it comes down to it i am lacking the skills to
get us moving with sugar and i do want it to work for
us as i am all for open source.
I have been into the sugar app on my server and have
set up outgoing e-mail no problem. I am struggling
with getting the inbound e-mail to work, though i can
get the test to find the inbox. I have added the code
in sugar to the crontab on my hosting account and i
have spoken to my support who gave me a different
script and i changed it to that. But i still can't get
the script to fire to pick up inbound e-mail.
As well as this i need a pointer on importing from Act
and also about the possibility of importing from excel
or other software.
Then there is mail merge. I will need to mail merge
for it to do the same as Act. I don't have an issue
with buying a word merge module, but so far all
attempts to upload modules have failed. I just don't
have the skills to do it and i need help!!!!
