I’m building an on-premises, Asterisk-based IVR that does more than play menu prompts: it must pull and push data to our internal database, record every call, route callers intelligently, and pass key interaction details straight into our CRM. Scope • Design and code a custom Asterisk dial-plan (and any AGI/ARI scripts) that drives a multi-level IVR. • Implement database integration for real-time look-ups and updates—open to MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite, so recommend what best fits solid performance and maintenance. • Enable call recording with configurable retention rules. • Build smart call-routing logic (skill, schedule, or data-driven). • Deliver a lightweight bridge or API hook so our CRM instantly receives caller data and recording links. • Package everything for on-prem deployment with clear install docs and a quick test plan I can run before sign-off. Acceptance The IVR should compile/run on the current LTS version of Asterisk, pass the agreed test plan end-to-end, and integrate with the database and CRM without manual intervention. Send over a brief outline of how you’d architect the solution (key modules, language choices for AGI, and any libraries) so we can get started right away.

Hi, this is right in my wheelhouse—I’ve built on-prem Asterisk IVRs that go well beyond prompts, with AGI-driven logic, database lookups, call recording, and CRM handoffs. I clearly understand your need for a multi-level dial-plan, smart routing based on data or schedules, and real-time DB + CRM integration that runs cleanly on the latest Asterisk LTS. I can architect this with a maintainable dial-plan, efficient AGI (PHP or Python), and a lightweight API bridge, all packaged with clear install docs and a practical test plan. Happy to outline the full module structure and get you to sign-off fast. Looking forward for your positive response in the chatbox. Best Regards, Arbaz H

I’d be happy to take this on. I bring 17 years of hands-on experience designing and delivering on-premises Asterisk IVR and call-processing systems for enterprises, contact centers, and custom CRM-driven workflows. Approach & Architecture (High Level): I would design a clean, modular Asterisk LTS–compatible dialplan as the core call controller, backed by AGI services (Python preferred for speed, maintainability, and DB/HTTP libraries). Dialplan logic stays minimal and deterministic; all intelligence lives in AGI. Key Modules: • IVR Engine: Multi-level, data-driven menus with timeout, retry, and fallback handling • Database Layer: MySQL or PostgreSQL (recommended for concurrency, reporting, and long-term maintenance), with real-time lookups and updates during calls • Smart Routing: Skill-based, schedule-aware, and data-driven routing with overflow and failover logic • Call Recording: Centralized recording with metadata tagging and configurable retention policies • CRM Bridge: Lightweight REST/webhook service pushing caller details, IVR selections, disposition, and secure recording URLs instantly—no manual steps • Observability: Call flow logging, error handling, and basic health checks for ops visibility Delivery: Everything is packaged for on-prem deployment, with clear install documentation, config templates, and an end-to-end test plan you can run before sign-off. Hey — saw your post about building an in‑house Asterisk IVR that does more than just play prompts. The tricky part with these setups is usually keeping the call flow fast while doing real-time data lookups without locking channels or overloading the server. Quick question: do you already have an existing database/CRM/API that the IVR needs to query during the call, or are we designing that integration layer from scratch? I’ve built custom Asterisk IVR flows with AGI/ARI that pull live data, route calls dynamically, and still keep call quality stable on-prem. If you share your current dialplan, call-flow diagram, or a short spec, I can review it and tell you what’s realistic with your current Asterisk setup and hardware.
